In order to help them make this journey nurse faculty must develop curricula that provide the essential knowledge and skills and, at the same time, provide a space for students to learn. This study opens the conversation for a curriculum that includes caring and curing in advanced practice. The focus is on the lived experience of nurses who are becoming nurse practitioners. The importance of narrative curricula and being open to different ways of teaching and learning are revealed through interpretation of conversations utilizing the work of Heidegger, Gadamer, Casey, and van Manen and the metaphor of the Wizard of Oz.
