In a series of encounters with idiosyncratic residents, some intimidating and others comical, Teddy realizes that her wit and sense of humor are her best coping skills. However, an arson fire, mysterious break-ins, and death threats assail her. Teddy then becomes both victim and witness to a domestic violence incident, which sends her into therapy and out of denial about the abuse she suffered in childhood-and at the hands of her late fiancé.
