O knihe

The study of Kuppam Veedhinatakam reveals the fact that it is a symbolic expression of rich culture and tradition. It is a miniature form, which is expressed in a performance context so much so that it gives a natural, genuine picture of their life and tradition. Kuppam Veedhinatakam tradition has a long history carried from generations to generations by a caste called gopita Balija or Balija Naidu of Kuppam, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is their traditional art form, handed from their ancestors and had taken it as a divine gift and later it was turned as their livelihood.Almost all spheres of their life are associated with this form and generally performed for all festivals, rituals, occasions and in drought, famine situations etc. A sense of sacredness is seen in the performance, the performers give much importance to religious beliefs and rituals. Religion is the part of their everyday life. Kuppam Veedhinatakam performers play a significant role to uplift the art form with their socio-cultural aspects.
