O knihe
This book examines how ethical conducts regulating energy and major natural resources extractive industrial operations (EIOs) in Nigeria may strengthen relevant policies, laws and other governance mechanisms superintending over these operations in the country. It discusses petroleum operations as a reference point to other energy and major natural EIOs in a way that relates to other resource-rich developing countries, especially countries like Nigeria, which are plagued by the resource curse. The problem that necessitated the study is that EIOs are not being efficiently embarked on in a well-organized manner in Nigeria, in compliance with international benchmarked standards and practices, so as to improve the wellbeing of the citizens and the advancement of the country. Good laws, especially sustainable development (SD)-oriented laws and practices, as well as ethical conducts, have potentials to vitalize, support and strengthen EIOs to contribute to SD in resource-rich developing countries. The study may thus be considered as a wake-up call on Nigeria and other resource-rich developing countries, towards environmentally-sound and socio-economically just and equitable SD.
