O knihe

Cardiac ultrasound is the most useful examination in patients with suspected heart failure to establish the diagnosis. The use of tissue Doppler allows the diagnosis of diastolic dysfunction. Objective: The present work would like to determine the frequency, the profile and the predictors of diastolic dysfunction in a group of patients followed at the Saint-Luc Clinic in Bukavu. The records of 109 patients aged 20 years and older who had undergone cardiac Doppler ultrasound were analyzed. Diastolic dysfunction was defined by an Ea wave < 8 cm/s on tissue Doppler. An E/A ratio <1, between 1 and 2, and = 2 at mitral flow defined relaxation disorder, flow normalization, and compliance disorder, respectively. The results of the present study are in agreement with the literature. Thus, the study of diastolic function by tissue Doppler should be preferred in our setting.
