The latest study reported earlier has found evidence of different kinds of salts in dark streaks on the slopes of peaks and crater walls. That's important because salt can melt ice - enabling it to flow. The discovery confirms that the Red Planet is still geologically active and, tantalizing it increases the possibility that may currently harbor simple living organisms.
