O knihe
This scientific work on the post-harvest operations of rice sheaves sheds light on the threshing and winnowing activities that constitute one of the bottlenecks of the rice sector in Benin. This is an activity in which the majority of the actors are rural women. It is usually carried out manually and in various ways on rice fields. Threshing is a post-harvest operation that consists of separating the paddy grains from the rice straws and making it clean for processing. It is a very important operation in that if it is not done properly, it can result in breakage, damage to the grains or mixing with foreign bodies such as sand and small stones, making local rice less competitive. This paper presents advances in research on new threshing and winnowing technologies adapted to Africa, and proposes an indigenous solution through the use of an easy-to-use axial-flow thresher-cleaner that can be replicated by local blacksmiths.
