O knihe
The diagnostic problem of breast pathologies has long been posed in Africa, particularly in Burkina Faso. This difficulty could be inherent to an inadequate technical platform, a lack of professionals and limited access of the population to care [25; 70]. The objective of this study was to determine the place of mammography in the diagnosis of breast diseases at the YO University Hospital in Ouagadougou. This was a descriptive cross-sectional study. We carried out a non-probability sampling, taking into account all registered patients with a breast pathology. We counted 213 patients, 95.4% of whom were women and 4.6% men, i.e. a sex ratio of 0.05. The average age of the patients was 41.5 years. Mammography was performed in 20.66% of patients, mainly because of its exorbitant cost, low availability and low prescription. Abnormalities were found in 73.1% of these patients. Lesions suspected of malignancy were frequent in patients aged 43 to 52 years (91%). The CRs were not standardized. Histology followed 59.09% of mammography.
