Mass cloning of Santalum album L. through in vitro techniques had been attempted by manipulation of culture media and hormone regime. Apical meristem and nodal segments with axillary bud were used as explant source for shoot induction and multiplication. An attempt was made in this book through investigation to develop a rapid micropropagation protocol for Santalum album L. by manipulating the growth regulators and different types of explants. This protocol might be used for the commercial exploitation of this medicinally important plant. Standardized method developed for callusing followed by shoot bud proliferation of this plant might be used for developing somatic embryogenesis in the future.
