This book explores 'information' from multidimensional perspective and bring into focus semantic aspects of information. Introduction gave an overview of the book, Chapter 1 discussed information, various questions related to it, Norbert Wiener's work on cybernetics, Shannon's information theory and Warren Weaver analysis's of it. Chapter 2 examined the multidimensional nature information in computer science, cognitive science, semiotics, molecular biology, quantum information theory, and consciousness studies. Book explores the notion of information in these fields wrt information theory. Chapter 3 discussed currently unresolved problem of how we get meaning from information with analysis of Dretske's informational semantics and Fodor's informational atomism. Chapter 4 outlined the problems with the information-based semantic theories discussed earlier and examined the prospects of introducing the notion of meaning within a formal account of information. Donald Mackay's work on information and meaning reviewed with concluding comments and argues for the need to re-examine the foundations on which the information theories of the past were built and suggest need for new framework.
