O knihe
This research aims to show the prominence that mural painting had in the New Granada colony and its social function from the question about the undervaluation of the anonymous mural painting of the 17th century in the chapel of Santa Barbara in the municipality of Sora (Boyacá), which was early hidden behind an altarpiece. The aim is to make a comprehensive assessment of the mural in the chapel of Sora, based on the study of the image and its correlation with the society where it was created. Visits were made to the municipality to recognize the socio-geographical space and document the mural, defining its analysis from the architectural, aesthetic, technical and symbolic aspects, making an analysis of the graphics and their relationships with European productions or with the material culture of Muisca. The study explores the way in which religious architecture was developed and its correlation with mural painting, as well as with the colonized body that allowed itself to be seduced by that aesthetic experience, adopting, mixing and recomposing images and their codes that came from Europe, now with a new meaning that transcends temporalities.
