O knihe

This research looked into the fungal richness associated with some crops grown in Kano (Groundnut, Cowpea, Millet, and Sorghum), with objectives that included the colonization level of the fungi, soil parameters, foliar nutrients composition, and the morphology and molecular characterization of the representative fungal isolates. Processing and examination of roots were by Brundret method and soil properties were analyzed using standard procedures. Total foliar nitrogen (N) was determined by the Micro-Kjeldal digestion method, total foliar phosphorus (P) was determined colorimetrically by the Vanado-Molybdate method and total foliar potassium (K) was determined by Flame Photometry. The fungal isolates were concluded to be mycorrhizal fungi and not endophytes The species were found to belong to Ascomycota and Mucuromycota phylum. The result findings conclude that there were significant associations between soil properties and root colonization and between soil properties and foliar concentrations. Further research should be conducted to look into the identification of genes and gene products controlling AMF-mediated growth and development regulation under stressful cues.
