O knihe

Sus Scrota Domesticus fat is the fatty tissue substance obtained from adipose tissues after removal of the pork meat and is often disposed off as waste or by product in abattoirs. In recent times, there has been an increasing search for pharmaceutical raw materials from locally available plants and animal sources which are cheap, affordable biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Sus Scrota Domesticus (Domesticus pig) is reared by farmers in southern part of Nigeria for its nutritional values and its fat is often thrown away as waste. It has not been given any requisite attention in terms of pharmaceutical uses and applications. The need to explore this fat presently in the formulation of sustained release matrices stimulated the interest on the research and publication of this book. Medicines are rarely drug alone but require additives (excipients) to make them into dosage forms. The ability of natural excipients from plants or animals in controlling the release of medicaments from various formulations has been recognized and studied.
