Earl Anderson was an ordinary Navy sailor placed under extraordinary circumstances. He narrowly avoided death when the invading Japanese army on the Bataan peninsula overwhelmed the besieged American forces. He and his buddies continued their shared fight for survival when they were transferred by a Japanese "hell-ship" to Yokohama, Japan, where they were forced to work as slave labor in a shipyard.
