Cotton (Gossipium hirsutum L.) is the most important cash crop grown in many parts of the world. Major losses in cotton production are due to its susceptibility to insect pests and number of diseases. Over the last few years sucking pests have emerged as the major pests on the Bt. transgenic cotton attacking the plant from seedling stage and cause heavy losses in tune of 21.20 to 22.86 per cent. Moreover, the indiscriminate use of traditional pesticides against sucking pests resulted into resurgence which created havoc for the cotton based cropping pattern besides, high amount of pesticide residues and health hazards. This book, therefore, not only provides the new avenues for controlling sucking pests of Bt transgenic cotton with economically effective new chemistry molecules but also this analysis helps to shed light on the compatibility of this novel chemicals with natural enemies and environment. The research work is indicative for the harmonious and precise utilization of novel group of insecticide molecules against sucking pests so as to develop an ecologically sound Integrated management programme for Bt. transgenic cotton.
