This material is not ideal in all respect and it is combination of virtues rather than one single desirable property that account for it is popularity and usage; it is far from ideal in fulfilling the mechanical requirements of prosthesis in spite of satisfying esthetic demands. The main problem associated with PMMA as a denture base material, is reduced strength mainly under fatigue failure inside the mouth caused by occlusal biting force and impact failure outside the mouth by dropping the dentures.
