O knihe

The results of the study showed that neurons in the dorsal root ganglia ranges from small to larger ones corresponding to small dark and large light types. The maximum number of neurons belongs to small to medium size category. These neurons are mainly responsible for the transmission of pain and temperature sensation from the periphery to the central nervous system. Immunohistochemical study showed that gap junctions were widely expressed between satellite cells and neurons after inducing postoperative pain. Changes were observed in the satellite cells as over expression of GFAP between them. Pharmacotherapy for reducing the functional status of gap junctions may be helpful in the treatment of pain arising after surgery.
