O knihe
Patient Safety (PS) appears to be a problem in all nations. Mankind remains witness of the marvels of high levels of safety achieved by Aviation and the Marine Societies through standardization, despite the short period of invention. This lesson poses a challenge for the domain of Medicine of which despite thousands of years of existence, thousands of patients still die each year as a result of unsafe healthcare. Nevertheless, it makes no sense to punish people for making errors yet we can decrease errors by improving systems. To achieve this objective, research skill remains indispensable in describing the fundamental concepts of the science of PS in their specific socio-cultural and economic context. It is in this spectrum that the World Health Organization (WHO) Patient Safety Program focuses on the 5 main research aspects in PS: - measuring the degree of harm to patients, - understanding their causes, - evaluating their impact, - identifying solutions and - translating the evidence into safer health care.
