The practice of physical activity has been the fundamental guiding foundation of health protocols towards the maintenance and preservation of health and, when properly performed, it has the function of preventing and controlling chronic diseases. In children and young people, it is verified that it interacts positively with strategies for the adoption of a healthy diet, while discouraging the use of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, reducing violence and promoting social integration. Sedentarism is defined as the lack, absence and/or decrease of physical or sportive activities. Considered as the disease of the century, it is associated with daily behavior resulting from the comforts of modern life. In Brazil, there are few population-based or school studies on physical activity in adolescents and national studies developed among adolescents report very varied prevalences. Although studies prove the harmful effects arising from sedentary lifestyles, the number of cases is still quite frequent, both in developed and developing countries, making it essential to increase research in this area in order to highlight its risks and encourage the insertion of
