O knihe
The role of the genetic structure of populations in shaping their population dynamics has been the subject of a large number of studies. In Nature, studies have been carried out mainly on rodents; in the laboratory, on arthropods. These studies have led to ideas about the ability of populations to self-regulate their numbers; about the involvement of genotypic structure in this process; about the presence of genetic polymorphism in the response of genotypes to changes in population density and the inherent different ability to regulate numbers in genetically different populations. Most of the works performed on insects focus on the analysis of the imaginal stage of development. At the same time, the dependence of population structure at imaginal stage on the preceding stage is evident, and the role of control of population dynamics in insects with complete transformation due to larval competition is a well-known fact. For a complete understanding of the control of population dynamics of insects by their genetic structure, it is important to conduct a comprehensive study, taking into account both their hereditary polymorphism on the type of response of individuals to overpopulation, and the features of population changes in the individual phases of ontogenesis.
