The Indian epics, especially the Ramayana and the Mahabharata are the greatest poems as they depict some of the fundamental truths of life. From the beginning, they had profound impact not only on the people of Indian but also the entire world. The values, expounded in these epics are universal and concerned to the entire mankind. Coming to Ramayana, it presents to us entire gamut of the Indian life. It is said that it is not only great poem (Kavya) but also a manual of ethics (Dharmasastra) in addition being a gospel of salvation (Moksasastra). Further some scholars opine that it is also a master piece having unique message in respect of ethics and spiritual ideals. Valmiki, by writing Ramayana shows us that a perfect and harmonious fusion of social and spiritual life. There is a depiction of Bhakti, Jnana and Yoga Paths which enable a man or a woman to attain the highest bliss. The various phases of life, social and religious are described. These are the same even in modern days and probably, they continue to be the same in future also.
