O knihe

The continuous use of conventional mineral oils as sources of energy is not without challenges due to its non-renewability, depletion of mineral oil reserves, and the environmental concerns arising from land degradation and release of greenhouse gases as well as volatile organic matters. The search for the use of vegetable oils as sources of energy offers a plausible alternative to the use of mineral oils. This study was carried out in order to produce environmentally acceptable biolubricant using waste cooking palm oil as base stock. The quality parameters of the produced biolubricant were found comparable to those of available ecofriendly lubricating oils and were also found within the standard for engine oils. The produced biolubricant is, therefore, suitable for any application where the synthetic environmentally acceptable lubricating oils are applicable.
