O knihe
Arterial stiffness, assessed by measuring pulse wave velocity (PWV), has rarely been studied in hemodialysis patients. This is a population in which the classic cardiovascular risk factors prevail, to which are added factors specific to uremia. The aim of our work was to detail the classic factors determining pulse wave velocity (PWV). Our population comprised 38 patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis via arteriovenous fistula or jugular catheter. The mean duration of hemodialysis was 29.21±24.56. The mean age was 49±13 years (16-78 years). Twelve patients were hypertensive (31.6%). Mean SBP was 127±19 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure 79±13 mmHg and MAP 95±13.5 mmHg. Mean hemoglobin was 9.20±1.66 g/dl. Mean calcemia was 86±9 g/l. Mean phosphoremia was 49±15. Mean PTH was 714±573 ng/l. A better understanding of the factors influencing arterial stiffness, apart from the classic cardiovascular risk factors, will enable us to intensify primary and secondary prevention in an immunocompromised population.
