O knihe

Braking is a process which converts the kinetic energy of the vehicle into mechanical energy which must be dissipated in the form of heat. Most common problems related to brake disc is overheating, which negatively affects braking performance especially under the continuous braking conditions of vehicles leads to brake fade. After a number of frequent severe stops or after holding the brakes on a long downhill grade, a point is eventually reached when the coefficient of friction drops so low that only little braking effect is available. This condition is called brake fade.So to reduce the brake fade operation the design of disc should be such that the heat developed during braking should be easily carried away to the atmosphere so that brake fade operation will not take place. Also reduction of weight can reduce the manufacturing cost along with the inertia effect of the disc.
