Sodium Lauryl sulfate (SLS) is a Anionic Surfactant, soluble in water. These surfactants are potentially dangerous environmental pollutants due to high volume use in laundry and cleaning products. Larger quantities release of these surfactants into environment can be a serious threat. The present work aims to study the removal of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) surfactant from aqueous solution by electrocoagulation method using aluminum and copper electrodes with and without perforations. FTIR analysis were performed for SLS surfactant before and after electrocoagulation process. Various parameters were carried out to study the effect of NaCl concentration, pH, voltage, electrolysis time and initial surfactant dosage on removal of surfactant. And the kinetics and the energy consumption were studied.
