Bleaching and composite restorations, as combined treatment, form a conservative approach for treatment of discolored, mal-shaped and mal-positioned teeth. However, bleaching affects immediate composite resin restoration bonding to teeth. Use of anti-oxidants has been recommended to address this problem. Lately, alpha tocopherol (vitamin E) has been suggested as an anti-oxidant for this purpose. Literature wise, hardly any studies and information are available on its form, concentration, and application time and their relationship to its clinical effectiveness.
