This is a research study which discusses about the Role of Professional Associations in the Development of Library & Information Science in India. It covers the impact of the programmes organised by six major national level associations (Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres (IASLIC), Indian Association of Teachers of Library and Information Science (IATLIS), Indian Library Association (ILA), Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET), Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS), and Society for Information Science (SIS) on LIS profession and LIS research.
