Pursued by the young man's estranged father, a concerned woman acquaintance, and the SBI and local authorities, the boys begin a cross-state journey in a stolen hearse from the Crystal Coast of North Carolina to the Black Mountain Range, the highest mountains east of the Mississippi River.
