This book investigates the application of different data analytics technologies to security and criminal investigation. This book firstly identify five cutting-edge data mining technologies such as link analysis, intelligent agents, text mining, neural networks, and machine learning from existing literature. Then, it explores their recent applications to the criminal analytics domain, and discuss the challenges arising from these innovative applications. In this book we review the recent literature, and examine the contribution of big data analytics through a criminal analytics framework. Here, we identify some common data sources, analyzing methods and applications related to two important perspectives of social network analysis namely, structural analysis and positional analysis that lay the foundation for criminal analytics. This book also describes the examples and challenges of applying big data analytics to the security intelligence domain. Finally, this book highlights the future research directions of big data analytics enhanced criminal investigations.
