O knihe
This book covers the fundamentals and the latest research concerning monitoring urban dynamics through detecting small-scale events from geosocial media. It begins by describing the key issues of detecting small-scale events, and explores the opportunities and challenges of adopting geosocial media for such research. Referring to the patterns reflected on social media platforms, the book classifies the small-scale events into two types. i.e., type I events with abrupt patterns and type II events with random occurrence of key factors, where social events and traffic events are representative correspondingly. With regard to each type of events, the book presents the general workflow, a series of detection methods, experimental process, and evaluation techniques to explain both theoretical and practical progress. This book bridges the gap between urban dynamics monitoring and geosocial media data analysis with a study of geosocial media-based small-scale event detection. The book will appeal to a broad readership, supporting researchers pursue further study in the field of urban dynamics monitoring, urban planning, transportation management, and etc.
