O knihe
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a serious global health problem. Despite, the development and advancing in disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment, the complications associated with T2DM, such as ischemic heart disease (IHD), stroke, neuropathy, retinopathy, and nephropathy, are still increased. T2DM is described by insulin resistance and ß-cell dysfunction. Evidences suggested a link of insulin resistance with IHD. On the other hand, inflammation is a shared feature of T2DM and ischemic heart diseases. Adiponectin is an insulin-sensitizing cytokine with anti-inflammatory properties, mainly secreted by adipocytes. Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is a cytokine, acts to control Th1/Th2 balance, produced from macrophages,Th1 cells and other cells. Studies have suggested the involvement of these cytokines in the pathogenesis of IHD in T2DM. Therefore, the current study was designed to elucidate the association of adiponectin (rs2241766T>G), Transcriptional Factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2), a regulator of insulin production (rs7903146C>T), and Interleukin 10 (rs1800896G>A) gene polymorphisms with IHD in Iraqi type 2 diabetic patients.
