Jefus Chrifi, for the refrii'fiion of fiiis. Divine powerfiill attended the preaching of Peter, for we find, that many received his words gladly, arid were baptifed; and the number was no lefs than about three thoufand. And the fame day there were added unto them 51 bout three thoufand fouls.

We have a further account of thofe converts in our text, and the words following. And by the account the facred hifiorian gives us, it is evident they were. Touched to fome purpofe; their profefiion was not merely nominal, or the e¿e& of a lifelefs ¿ame which the apofile had hi own up in their minds; for we are' aifured, that they continued to feel the force of divine truth, and to aet u p to the charac'ter of real chrif'tians.
