O knihe

The Afeld family came to America in the mid-1800's from Fulda, a small town in the German State of Hesse. The town was founded in 744 through the creation of a Benedictine monastery by Saint Sturm, a disciple of Saint Boniface. Upon arrival, two brothers, Josef and Franz, built a successful business in New York City specializing in the creation of artificial flowers, which thrived. In many ways, theirs is the typical story of hard working immigrants who came to America and succeeded in creating the "American Dream". While Josef and his wife did not have any children, Franz and his wife, Theresa Sandbichler, had five (Eugene, Norman, Charles, Amelia, and Norma) and chapters are devoted to each child and their descendants and genealogy. Additional chapters cover several of the allied families, those who married into the Afeld family. They include, the Antony family of Oslo, Norway; the Sandbichler family of Bavaria, Germany; and the Drinnenberg, Kohler, Kluber, and Marschall families of Hunfeld, Germany.
