O knihe

The series of essays that are presented were written during the last years from the interior of Argentina, from its Mediterranean province of Santiago del Estero. Our country has been a case of global analysis for a long time. Fundamentally because all the countries that came to be qualified as being "in the process of development" or "emerging", always did so from a previous position of underdevelopment. Argentina is the only country in the world that did it from a clearly superior level. It is a country that was born to the world, from the then very remote southern hemisphere of Latin America, just beginning the nineteenth century and, in just over a hundred years later, it was already in the "top ten" of the concert of Nations, calling attention, both from the US and from all of Western Europe, for its verified economic growth and its potential for development and immediate and future progress. From the period between the wars of the 2 great world wars and until the middle of the 20th century, everything changed. Society gradually ceased to be as cosmopolitan and integrated to the world as before and the political leadership forgot the dreams of the greatness of the previous leaders. Canada in North America and Australia in the Southern Hemisphere turned out to be the factual counterfactual of what, most likely, we may have been at present.
