O knihe
This paper is devoted to a comprehensive study of the political agency of the Armenian diaspora in the Federal Republic of Germany. The political science approach to defining the essence of the diaspora, as presented in the works of V. Tishkov, T. Poloskova, D. Carment et al. Classical diasporas, which include the Armenian diaspora, perform the functions of lobbying for the interests of the country of origin in the host country and act as a 'bridge' between the two states. The Armenian diaspora in Germany has already expanded its functions beyond the mere maintenance of national and ethnic identity within the framework of associations and universities, and has acquired the potential of political agency. As of 2021, the Armenian diaspora in Germany was the third largest in the European Union after France and Poland. It numbers between 40,000 and 50,000 people. The Central Council of Armenians is the main institutional unit in Germany. Its tasks include supporting the aspirations of diaspora members to cooperate with German organisations to promote the 'Armenian agenda', which includes the 1915 genocide and the Artsakh issue.
