O knihe

Myopia has a high prevalence throughout the world. Peripheral defocus has been suggested to be one of the major factors in development of central refraction in human eyes. The ordinary ways of correcting the central myopia do not correct the relative hyperopic peripheral refraction and even make it worse. Peripheral refraction modification might control the progression of myopia. One way of modifying the peripheral refractive error might be to use appropriately designed contact lenses. Progressive addition lenses, such as the bifocal and multifocal contact lenses that have different refractive zones for near, intermediate and distance objects and showed the ability to retard the myopic progression as mentioned previously. This book illustrates the effect of centre near and centre distance design multifocal and bifocal contact lenses on the peripheral refractive error in a group of myopic young adults.
