Medicinal plants are traditionally used all over the world as a rich source of therapeutic resource in the treatment of human and animal diseases. The worldwide interest in the beneficial effect of medicinal plants is growing. Many countries like China (40%), Pakistan (80%), US (60%) etc. are still relay on the use of medicinal plants more than that of other synthetic drugs. Neolamarckia cadamba/Anthocephalus cadamba is an ayurvedic remedy that has been mentioned in Indian medicinal literature. It is considered as a sacred tree of India and favourite tree of Lord Krishna. The plant is distributed worldwide in India, Nepal, Tailand, Indonesia, Africa, Central America and Malaysia and native to south east Asia. The plant is recommended for cough, ulcer, wound, uterine complaints, urinary ailments, diarrhoea, dysentery, antihepatotoxic, antidiuretic, antihelmintic, antidiabetic and kidney stone. Even though studies were conducted on bark and leaves of N. Cadamba, no attempt was carried out to explore the fruits of N. Cadamba. Hence this book is an earnest attempt to lighten the importance of N. Cadamba.
