A hospital is run like any other business with relationships involving friendships, politics, animosity, craftiness, and sometimes sex and murder. Such is the case in the hospitals in the town of Parksville. On the surface all runs smoothly with well trained personnel going about their daily jobs in a routine manner. Dr. Gannett, a former surgeon, becomes the Medical Center Director, supervising all four hospitals in the town, a lucrative position with great respect.
