O knihe

A book of six short stories and a novella. Tales of wild imagination, blending themes of Science Fiction, Magic Realism, Myths and Legends, History and Karma. Each story is unique. The title story "The Secret of Killamery", a novella, follows the narrator Jimmy and his friend Luke as they go on the trail of a 9th century monk Fionán, who it seems had travelled to a parallel universe. How will the Abbot react? Will he believe Fionán? Will there be modern day reverberations for Jimmy or Luke? Where will it all end? In "The Kyiv War Museum", the museum attendant is the image of Putin. Who is this man? The narrator meets him. Is he for real? In "An Invasion is Announced" word arrived sometime in 1940 that the Germans were about to invade on the south coast of Ireland, a neutral country. A nearby town had to call off the fair day. There was consternation. "The Strange Case of Timmy O'Neill" tells the story of a teenager who ignores the legend and swims across Bay Lough, only to be dragged down. But to where? Could he really have arrived in Tír na nÓg - the land of eternal youth? "Butter" tells the story of two women, one in Ireland, one in London who during WW2 wanted to and found a way to overcome the restrictions of butter rations. "Mikey" was a bit slow as a youngster. Then one day he stopped to dance a jig in the street to the music of a group of pan pipe players. How could this chance encounter lead to a solution to his 'severe communication disorder'? And finally "The Reluctant Informer" gets more than he bargained for while doing no more than his civic duty.
