Jason, a local businessman whose previous boss had a shady past, is establishing a thoroughbred stud in the countryside. A fire burns the timber for his fences and stables.
He meets Gertrude, who pretends to be a school-leaver. The two fall in love, but she won't tell him about her background. One night they go fishing and see a stalker.
