O knihe

This book was authored by Dr Manuel Bea, Risqia Fajrina, Mirko Lieber, Rhys Manners, Alondra Palomino, Karina Rojas, Vidadi Shirinov, Sebastiano Silvestri, Maria Stenquist and Dr Laura Vay; MSc Environmental Management graduates and professor from IE University (Spain), who approached the issue comprehensively from an interdisciplinary perspective. It highlights the fundamental causes and outcomes resulting from the lack of balance in water allocation between environmental and socioeconomic systems. Further, it has updated the contemporary situation and threats in Spain's two most protected wetlands; Doñana and Las Tablas de Daimiel National Parks. Ultimately wetlands can be seen as a litmus test for how society sees itself within the environment, is it merely an indefinable externality? It appears from the findings of this study that society's efforts are gradually improving the situation in both Doñana and Tablas de Daimiel. Whether this will be enough to save these wetlands remains to be seen. What is certain is that Spain will be a poorer country for the loss of these outstandingly beautiful and unique sites.
