After freeing a young teenage girl from the jaws of her brutal kidnapper, LAPD's Detective Spencer Johnson finds he has shot himself in the foot once again with his cavalier operating procedures, by not following proper police protocol. His superior, Chief Felix, has had enough of Johnson's rouge style of police work. So, when Congressman Phillips knocks on the Chief's door, Felix uses the opportunity to get rid of Johnson on special assignment to score points with the presidential candidate. Johnson's assignment: To locate, and apprehend Damon Tyler in Southeast Asia, and return him to the US to stand trial for the barbaric murder of his wife. Now underground in the Philippines, Ex-Special Forces / Ex-Los Angeles District Attorney Tyler, has fled federal custody and is protected by the same organized crime group he was stomping out with his Special Forces unit lead by Phillips when he was a colonel. Culture clash is clear and abrupt immediately after landing in Manila, as we observe Spencer, once a bull in a LA china shop, now a displaced take no prisoners problem solver, who like an infant crawling across a highway buzzing with traffic, is lead through the bowels of the city into the underworld by his nose like a pawn. Once underground, Johnson discovers a decadent paradise for the mega-wealthy, with Damon Tyler as its featured entertainment, witnessing first hand how Tyler has been thrown into the ring to fight, in exchange for his freedom under the organized crime lord Bagsic's rule. By surrendering to the bizarre tide of occurrences, Johnson learns the mysterious truth behind what prompted Tyler to become a fugitive, which like a ticking bomb forces him to convince Tyler to return to the US willingly, before the tentacles of corruption bolt the doors out of the country shut permanently. Ironically, once back in the US all is also not quite what it seems. Has Johnson deceived Tyler? Or, have the Eastern and Western Worlds played them both? When Johnson becomes part of the mysterious riddle in Tyler's life, we take a journey through smoke and mirrors to uncover the truth...Or, is it? Like after rebuilding an engine only to find you have more parts then when you started, we are left with a clue - a warning it is only a ridge from which we peer into the apocalyptical abyss of global anarchy and corruptive power.
