According to the diagnosis of the forest cover of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Panama (2019), the forest cover of the province of Colón is more than 70% of the territory; most of it is in protected areas that are widely studied; however, on the margins of these, there are urban forests that harbor diverse ecological dynamics. The urban trees in the district of Colón have become especially important because they are an element that is being greatly impacted by the urban infrastructure renovation process that is currently underway and, in addition, because they are a source of high risk due to the worrying phytosanitary condition of many of the trees, which could be part of potential accidents caused by falling branches or the total overturning of their structures. This project consisted of identifying and evaluating the health of trees in three areas of the city of Colón, with the purpose of determining and suggesting the appropriate management according to the case (felling, replacement, relocation or pruning).
