O knihe

Viral hepatitis and HIV constitute public health problems and threats to blood safety in Burkina Faso. This book presents the epidemiological situation of hepatitis B and C in the general population, assesses the risk factors associated with these infections; estimates the prevalence of Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) and hepatitis B, D and G in blood donors and characterizes HBV genotypes in blood donors in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Through his work, Dr TAO I. shows that HBV is highly prevalent in Burkina Faso (14.50%). The genotypes of this virus that circulate in blood donors are genotypes C and E.HGV, which has not yet been detected in blood transfusion in Burkina Faso, is already very prevalent in blood donors (7, 40%). In the light of the results of his research, the author recommends the organization of surveillance and the expansion of the range of blood bag control examinations as well as the strengthening of collaboration between structures that fight against HIV / AIDS and those fighting against viral hepatitis.
