She spends her days watching the clouds, thinking about her brother and pondering the strange voicemail he left on her phone the day he died. In a last ditch effort, her parents send her two thousand miles away to her grandparents' ranch, where she and her brother used to love spending time. She meets a boy named Gray that seems different than others she's known. He has an outlook on life that intrigues her. The two develop a friendship, and Jaida starts opening up to him, slowly tearing down the wall she's built around herself the last few months.
