Body image contributes to our perception of self in the society. In view of this, the study examined the effects of body image dissatisfaction and physical appearance related social comparison on self-esteem among female undergraduate students, Nasarawa State University, Keffi. The study adopted a correlational research design to determine the relationship that exist among study variables. The study was made up of 238 sampled participants across 5 departments in the University. The instruments adopted for the study were Body Image Dissatisfaction Scale for Women (BID-W), Physical Appearance Related Comparison Scale-Revised (PARC-R) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Three hypotheses were tested and the result of hypothesis one indicated that there was a significant inverse relationship between BID and SES indicating that the higher the BID, the lower the SES. The result of hypothesis 2 revealed that PARC had a significant negative relationship with SES among female undergraduate students indicating that the more females compare their appearance with others, the lower their self-esteem. Lastly, the result of showed BID and PARC had a significant main and interaction effects on SES.
