O knihe

For the history of sociology, one of the most difficult problems is that of the relation between a theory, a system of thought, and the characteristics of a social system. It is not by chance that sociology was born and constituted in France, just as classical political economy was in England and idealist philosophy in Germany. With Durkheim, sociology made its own history, but it did not do so arbitrarily, in the conditions chosen by Durkheim, but in conditions directly given and anchored in the history of French society. This sociology did not begin to exist the day Durkheim's reflections were developed. What I would like to investigate in this work is this: why was sociology born Durkheimian in France and only in France? Starting from this question, the aim of this work is to show that the Durkheimian definition of the social phenomenon corresponds deeply to the characteristics of French society, those of statism and communitarianism.
