The title of the work, A Blues Man's Blues : Poems On Love, Sex and Revolution, gives reverence to Dr. Baruti's Great Grandfather, the late Blues Guitarist and Singer, Johnny Shines. Johnny Shines is known for his guitar playing, the amazing poetic language of his songs and his astounding singing voice. Poignant and provocative some may be seen as controversial even but they are from Dr. Baruti's heart as he has been called by some close to his heart, a Blues Man.
