O knihe
Out of the one billion people who speak English, barely half of those speak it as a mother tongue. For the remainder, English is either a second language or a foreign language. The majority of the world¿s English users are non-mother tongue users. They write and speak English in a different way as compared to mother-tongue users and this gives rise to varieties of English that are distinct from the mother-tongue varieties. The nativisation of English manifests itself in a much deeper form than merely in pronunciation and vocabulary. These two aspects are, of course, very obvious to any observant speaker of any variety of English. The aspect which has been least studied is the acculturation of English in various non-Western contexts. There are a number of contexts, which have resulted in such acculturation when English is used in typically non-English contexts and this book is an attempt in that direction.
