O knihe
ACCOUNTING FOR SUCCESS
THE GUIDE TO CASE RESOLUTION
Preface
My book is intended for university students or candidates in accounting who are required
to resolve multidisciplinary integrated cases as part of their studies.
What I have written is based on more than twenty-five years of resolving cases; my
experience has been gained from university teaching, consulting for accounting firms,
and marking professional exams. The ideas you will find in this book are drawn from
real-life student work, responses, comments and questions.
I spent over five years writing the original edition of Accounting for success, first bringing
together a great number of observations and then proceeding to their detailed analysis.
My objective has been to facilitate the case learning process by using a practical and
well-structured approach. Experience has taught me that resolving multidisciplinary
cases within a specific context is one of the greatest challenges in the study of accounting.
By opting for a clear, direct and concise approach, I have sought to present key elements
in a dynamic and proactive manner, with the occasional dash of humor. My preference
has been to adopt a more chatty style, interspersed with illustrations, rather than
to simply present the reader with a formal list of concepts. This explains the many
recommendations, examples and tables that I use to clarify and explain my arguments.
Case analysis and resolution is an activity that teaches you to exercise your judgment
in a variety of situations, something that most certainly adds a positive dimension to
accounting studies.
